§ 30-421. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Air-dry sludge facility means any facility designed and/or used in the drying or dewatering of wastewater or sludge by holding such wastewater or sludge in outdoor treatment ponds, pits, vats or any other holding facility, or any indoor facility wherein liquids or odors emanating from the treatment of wastewater or sludge are discharged, emitted or allowed to escape such indoor facility.

    Applicant means either the person or entity applying for or attempting to locate an air-dry sludge facility.

    Sludge means wastewater, treated wastewater and/or the accumulated residual solids, usually in liquid form, resulting from the receipt of municipal or private wastewaters and shall include refuse liquids or water matter of all sorts normally carried off by municipal or private sewers. Such term shall not include septage.
